How to Write a Vinted Description That Sells

Free guide from ListingLift ยท Updated August 2026

Vinted buyers scroll fast and buy on trust. A good description answers their questions before they ask, removes the doubt that makes people hesitate, and quietly includes the words they searched for. Here's a simple formula that does all three.

The first line does the heavy lifting

Lead with brand, item and size โ€” that's what buyers scan for and what Vinted's search reads most. Everything else is detail; this line is the hook.

Weak: "Lovely top, barely worn ๐Ÿ˜Š"
Strong: "Nike Dri-FIT running top, size M โ€” worn twice, like new"

Always give measurements

Sizes are wildly inconsistent across brands and decades, so experienced buyers filter out anything without them. Lay the item flat and give the numbers that matter for that piece:

Measurements are the single biggest reducer of "will this fit me?" questions โ€” and of cancelled sales and returns.

Be honest about condition โ€” it sells better than hype

State the true condition and disclose any flaw plainly but kindly: "small mark on the hem, barely visible when worn". Buyers trust a seller who points out the little things, and honest listings get better reviews, which feed future sales. A hidden flaw becomes a refund and a bad rating.

Add material and care

"100% cotton", "merino wool", "machine washable" โ€” these matter to buyers with allergies, sustainability preferences or laundry realities, and they double as natural keywords.

Sprinkle in the words buyers search โ€” naturally

Think about what a buyer would type: "y2k", "cottagecore", "gym", "oversized", "vintage". Weave the true ones into the description. Write for a human first; the keywords should read like normal sentences, not a tag dump.

The mistake that gets accounts banned: do not name a brand your item isn't to catch its searches โ€” "Zara style", "Chanel inspired", "designer dupe". Vinted treats this as brand misuse and can remove the listing or suspend you. If it's unbranded, sell it on its real strengths โ€” "soft boucle knit", "tailored wool blazer", "made in Italy" โ€” never a borrowed name.

Keep it scannable

Short lines beat a paragraph. A clean structure โ€” hook line, measurements, condition, material, a friendly close โ€” gets read to the end. A wall of text gets skipped.

Let the description write itself

Snap a photo and ListingLift writes a clean, honest Vinted description โ€” brand, condition, the right keywords, no risky brand-name spam โ€” plus a fair price and versions for eBay and Depop too.

Frequently asked questions

What should a Vinted description include?

Brand, item and size in the first line; measurements; honest condition; material and care; and a few natural keywords buyers search. Keep it short and scannable rather than a wall of text.

Do measurements really help items sell on Vinted?

Yes. Sizes vary hugely between brands and eras, so buyers filter out anything without clear measurements to avoid returns and hassle. Flat measurements noticeably reduce questions and cancelled sales.

Can I write 'brand style' to get more views?

No. Naming a brand the item isn't (for example 'Zara style' on an unbranded top) is treated as brand misuse and can get your listing removed or your account suspended. Describe the real fabric, cut and colour instead.
