What makes a great Etsy title
- Front-load the main keyword. Etsy gives the opening words of your title the most weight, and search results often show only the first 40–50 characters. "Soy Wax Candle | Lavender Vanilla | Amber Jar" beats "Beautiful Handmade Gift Idea — Candle".
- Use buyer language, not maker language. You call it a "hand-poured phthalate-free container candle"; buyers type "lavender candle" and "gift for mum". Titles should speak the buyer's words.
- Use most of the 140 characters. Every unused character is a search phrase you didn't rank for. Aim for 80–140.
- Separate phrases with pipes ( | ) or commas. Both are fine for Etsy; pipes are easier for humans to scan.
- Don't repeat one word endlessly. "Candle | Candle Gift | Candle Decor | Candle Candle" reads as spam to buyers and wastes characters Etsy has already counted once.
- Include gift and occasion phrases. An enormous share of Etsy purchases are gifts — "gift for her", "housewarming gift", "bridesmaid gift" are some of the most-searched phrases on the platform.
